- As a Client Platform Engineer, you will connect IT and Engineering for AI tools and automation at Nextdoor. As more teams start using AI agents, assistants, and connectors, you will manage the IT platforms that keep these tools safe and scalable - This in...
You will work with teams in Business Technology, Engineering, Security, and Finance to create processes that help teams launch AI tools quickly while following IT guidelines. Your work will help make AI a valuable resource across the company
- At Nextdoor, we operate in an AI-first environment and expect every team member to actively use AI tools as part of their workflow. We aren’t looking for prompt engineers; we’re looking for people who use tools like Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, and Glean to challenge their own thinking and take full ownership of AI-assisted outputs
- If you have experience making IT platforms reliable, secure, and easy to use, and you want to apply those skills to AI tools across the business, this role could be a great fit
- You will set the standards for how every AI agent at Nextdoor authenticates, what it can access, what it costs, and how teams are alerted if issues arise. You will be responsible for the standards, review processes, and monitoring that turn one-off AI projects into a dependable platform for the company
- Design and operate the identity, access, and credential lifecycle for AI agents at Nextdoor, including non-human and user-delegated identities in Okta, OAuth 2.0, and OIDC scope minimization, and canonical authentication patterns (user OAuth, service accounts, workload identity federation) that teams default to alongside Nextdoor’s existing Network and AV Standards
- Build and run review processes for AI agents and connectors, covering pre-production review of agent tool surfaces, data scopes, and blast radius; intake review for new MCP servers and third-party connectors (vendor diligence, OAuth scope approval, hosted vs. self-hosted decisions); and the underlying policy framework for registration, data classification, and human-in-the-loop requirements
- Maintain a centralized registry of AI agents and tooling deployed across Nextdoor, and own the associated telemetry, including Datadog dashboards, vendor analytics ingestion (e.g., the Anthropic Enterprise Analytics API), and recurring department-level adoption reporting for IT and executive leadership
- Own seat governance and cost controls across Nextdoor’s AI tool portfolio (Claude Enterprise, Cursor, Copilot, and emerging tools), including per-user and per-org spend caps, multi-tenant license allocation across vendor organizations, quarterly access reconciliation against Okta, and monthly budget reviews for IT and Finance
- Participate in in-person Nextdoor events such as trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and team building exercises
- Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to Nextdoor’s company culture
### Benefits
- Monthly wellness stipend
- 12 weeks of parental, family or medical leave
- Global end of year shutdown
- Learning and development stipend
- Work from home opportunities
- Health insurance- Working knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and service account or workload identity patterns across Google Cloud and AWS, including the ability to spot anti-patterns (e.g., domain-wide delegation, over-scoped service account keys) before they reach production
- Comfortable writing scripts to automate IT operations in Python, Bash, or similar, and experience operating CI/CD or scheduled-job patterns (GitHub Actions, cron) for IT automation
- Strong written communication and the ability to author internal standards, runbooks, and review documentation that other teams will actually use
- 5+ years in IT engineering, client platform engineering, or IAM-focused security engineering, with clear ownership of production identity and access systems. And/or the ability to perform at an advanced level in the domain
- Familiarity with at least one observability platform, with Datadog preferred, including building dashboards, alerts, and ingestion pipelines from third-party APIs
- Deep hands-on Okta administration experience, including SSO/SAML/OIDC, SCIM, group rules, sign-on policies, and access certification, with a strong understanding of audit and SOX implications
- Hands-on experience with AI development tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, LangChain, etc.) as a practitioner, not just an administrator
- Direct experience with Claude Enterprise, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or comparable AI tooling deployed at enterprise scale, including license and seat governance
- Working knowledge of MCP (Model Context Protocol), agent integration patterns, or comparable agent-to-tool connector frameworks
- Background working alongside Engineering on shared platform tooling, with the ability to operate at the boundary of IT and Engineering ownership
- Experience with Jamf Pro and macOS endpoint management
- Prior involvement in SOX access certification or quarterly UAR processes
- Experience evaluating SaaS vendors and MCP or connector marketplaces for security posture, data flow, and supply-chain risk
- Experience with AI governance frameworks (NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, EU AI Act)

About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, polic...
About the role
The Endpoint team (Client Platform Engineering) treats Anthropic’s device fleet as a distributed platform, not a collection of laptops. We run our own MDM as a production service and manage every piece of device configuration as code. Policies, configuration profiles, queries, remediation scripts, and software all ship through pull requests, CI, a staging environment, and a canary group before they reach the fleet. The fleet spans macOS, Windows, and a growing mobile footprint.
You’ll own that platform end to end: the infrastructure underneath the MDM, the configuration on top of it, the patching and software pipelines that keep thousands of devices patched and secure, and the telemetry that tells us what is actually true on every device. You’ll build zero touch provisioning that turns a sealed box into a productive machine on day one, manage rapid patching enforcement schedules while maintaining a good user experience, and build automation and Claude-driven workflows to eliminate operational toil. The role sits at the intersection of security and developer experience: working with Security teams on hardening, compliance controls, and detection and response, and with developer and infrastructure teams to make sure controls don't get in the way of getting work done. It also lays the groundwork for access decisions based on device trust.
If you think of “100% compliant” as a claim to audit rather than a fact to report, you’ll fit right in. The team is deliberately lean and runs with high autonomy. You’ll help define the endpoint roadmap, make architecture decisions, and own the platform every Anthropic employee’s work runs on. Your work will directly shape how we scale to AI Safety Level 4 and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Own endpoint configuration as code: author, review, test, and progressively roll out MDM policies, configuration profiles, and remediation scripts across macOS, Windows, and mobile, with canary stages and rollback built in
- Operate the MDM platform itself as a production service, including infrastructure as code, observability, upgrades, and incident response
- Build patch management automation with rapid enforcement timelines while maintaining good user experience
- Design zero touch provisioning that turns a sealed box into a productive machine on day one
- Run software distribution for the fleet, including managed app distribution for mobile devices
- Turn fleet telemetry into policy, dashboards, and early drift warnings, and build automation with Claude that removes operational toil
- Partner with Corporate Security on endpoint hardening, binary authorization, and compliance controls
- Serve as the deep escalation tier for endpoint issues IT Operations can’t resolve
You may be a good fit if you
- Have 8+ years building secure IT systems in complex environments, or for Staff level, have led projects spanning multiple teams that changed how an organization operates
- Have managed endpoint fleets of thousands of macOS and Windows devices through a modern MDM
- Treat endpoint configuration as code and have moved past clicking in consoles, whether through scripted deployments or full GitOps
- Go deep on one platform (macOS internals such as launchD, configuration profiles, TCC, and system extensions, or Windows internals such as CSPs, the registry, PowerShell, and BitLocker) and are genuinely hands on with the other
- Excel at solving ambiguous problems with multiple stakeholders
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to any audience
- View IT Engineering as requiring product engineering rigor
- Successfully deliver complex projects from conception to production
- Write clear documentation as a natural part of your workflow
Strong candidates may also
- Have operated an MDM or device management platform as a service, not only consumed one as SaaS
- Have worked with open source endpoint and device management tooling
- Have built automated, progressive rollout systems with promotion gated on telemetry
- Have experience running infrastructure as code in a public cloud
- Have managed a mixed fleet across macOS, Windows, and mobile, with real depth on at least one platform
- Bring proficiency in Swift or Go for building endpoint tools
- Have used LLMs to automate operational work, or are excited to make Claude a teammate
Technical Skills
- Python, shell scripting, and PowerShell
- macOS or Windows internals (depth on one, working knowledge of the other)
- Querying live device state at fleet scale
- Modern MDM platforms (Jamf, Intune, Workspace ONE, or equivalent)
- GitOps, CI/CD for configuration management, and infrastructure as code
- Public cloud fundamentals (containers, managed databases, CDN, monitoring)
- Device lifecycle automation (zero touch enrollment, patching, software distribution)
- Endpoint security fundamentals
Deadline to apply: None. Applications will be received on a rolling basis.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.
